BROOKLYN goes Ard!
R1 posted this tune a while back now, but i saw this on BNTL and had to post. The tunes massive but that aside this video is crazy. The artist behind this version is Evan Roth and he has made the entire video using typography, the only letters you see that feature are from the word BROOKLYN.

The Big Pictures!
Merry Xmas All, Hope you had a good one, its all come a to a swift end and with Xmas TV in an atrocious state I have turned my attention to Movies.
With comic-book heroes dominating summer cinema last year, 09 it seems will be no different with a few possible sequels and a whole new roster of heroes and villains fully equipped with dodgy disguises, shiny lycra and utility belts ready to hit the big screen.
If you’re a big fantasy/Sci-Fi fan then you will definitely want to keep your eyes peeled for movies this coming year. Marvel and DC have found the key to the attic as it seems they will be sending hero after hero in an attempt to separate us from our wallets in 09, so im going to give you a quick breakdown in what you should look out for at your local movie joint.
X-men Origins: Wolverine
The Breakdown
Everyone’s favourite mutant swings by in this x-men prequel. I’ve got high hopes for this movie as the 3 previous X-men titles didn’t quite do it for me, they was aight, but seeing a glimpse of gambit sealed the deal on this one. We can expect wolverine to be in a disgruntled mood on a revenge mission in a vest or leather jacket.
Check out the preview:
Transformers: Rise of the Fallen
The Breakdown
The original was a big hit, and I think were all expecting more of the same. The Decepticons want to build an army and rule the universe starting with earth; The Autobots don’t think it’s a good idea so they battle for it. Witty main character, alien robots, hot girl, senseless destruction done and dusted.
Watchmen
Quite a big hype around this one ive never read the original novel, but its directed by the same guy that did 300 so as a comic book fan I’d give it a go.
The Breakdown
A complex multilayered mystery/adventure set in an alternate 1985 USA,where costumed superheroes are part of everyday society.
Check the Preview:
As I said earlier there is a truckload of titles to look out for so check below for a few more heavy hitters.
The Spirit
Terminator
G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra
Avatar - James Cameron - Cameron gave us The Terminator and Terminator 2, Aliens, The Abyss, and Titanic (Nuff Sed)
Punisher: War Zone-this winter
Iron Man 2 (original was good)
Inglorious Bastards – Quentin Tarantino (gotta be watched just to see what kind of retro, lunacy is going on).
Dragon ball Evolution (preview doesn’t look quite right, they seemed to have strayed from the original story.
Thundercats Movie – (Zoooooooop)
Thor-2010
Masters of The Universe (lets hope its better than its predecessor)

Flashback Fridays
I previously thought that i'd missed the boat by not posting this song last week due to the title and theme but due to the passing of the artist yesterday i thought it was only right.
Eartha Kitt for me was most remembered for her role in Boomerang as Lady Eloise the older lady who Marcus (Eddie Murphy) allowed to seduce him into bed with the hopes of wining a job promotion.
In 1953 Eartha Kitt sang Santa Baby which has more recently been used by Debenhams in there Christmas Ad Campaign. Due to her passing yesterday i thought it was only right for this song to be used on Flashback Friday.

YO YO's
Yo Yo's Xmas Special was good. Im glad i went with the Family Tree and didnt go to my Company Xmas Dinner & Dance. My boy said it was dry and there were too many 'Adams Apples' in the place (Civil Engineering Industry, you dont really get many ladies)!!
I personally enjoyed the Funky House section of the night (soo long since i've been out and heard a bit of Funky)! Oh yeah...it was MAD HOT in there as a particular picture will show!!

YOUR JOKING!!!
An Asics shop... A whole shop selling nothing but Asics??? Are they taking the piss?
Wow... That’s different! With Northern Rock, MFI, Wollies, and Zavvi to name a few companies either going in to administration or going bust, Asics thought they would buck the trend and have opened their first shop in the UK, and they actually HAVE customers. In any case it’s on Argyll Street in London. I aint gonna front though, i checked out some of the kicks they've got coming out in 09, and credit where credits due, their doing their thing... Still dunno about a whole shop though!

Tuesday's Tracks!
I got three tracks for this week’s Tuesday's Tracks.
Justin Timberlake feat. T.I - If I
This one's a pretty big one. With T.I's last album being a huge success, it looks like his going to get as much hits and features in as possible before he does his bird for various gun charges. Justin Timberlake and T.I seem to have formed a nice partnership, and I’m sure this will go down well.
Keane - Spiralling
The second track has been around for a while, but the more I hear it the more I like it, and it sounds better when you banging it with some volume from a proper set. It's unusually up tempo and current for a Keane track especially with the electro flavour. I’m feeling the video too.
Lady Gaga - Just Dance
The third and final track this week is Lady Gaga’s debut single Just Dance. I’ve been harping on about her for a hot minute, so I thought I’d post the first video that got released in the US, no doubt 2009 is going to be a big year for her.

HEAD, SHOULDERS... signs to universal
Keep a look out...
2009 will see the launch of two particular artist’s solo careers in the UK. The first is the London born and bred, rapper/indie solo artist that goes by the name ‘Master Shortie’. If you mix Dizzie Rascal with Calvin Harris you may get something a little like this. Whether you feel what he’s coming with or not, I don’t think it can be debated that he is quite unique in his sound and positioning. He can be seen live, early next year across the UK.
For more info check out his Myspace
The second of the artists you may well have already heard of, or if you don’t know who he is you would have at least heard his voice before, (well unless you’ve been living underneath a rock for the past 12 months). In any case, his name is Daniel Merriweather, his claim to fame would be his vocal on the Mark Ronson hit “Stop Me”, while more recently he featured on the Wiley track “Cash In My Pocket”. Now he’s taking on the challenge of stepping into the limelight on his own. On the debut release “Change”, he puts down a nice vocal, however, I’m not really feeling some of the other stuff on his MySpace most notably ‘Cigarettes’. For me his success depends on where his management and record label position his sound.

The place went crazy!
I’ve been considering posting this video for a while now, because of the vocoder use, and how everyone in the music biz seems to be jumping on it, it’s taken a while for me to decide to go ahead and post it. But after Yoyo’s in Notting Hill on Thursday night, these two tracks deserve a special mention. The first track we posted about a few weeks ago was the funky house banger “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”, and the second track that everyone went crazy for, was Busta Rhymes feat. Ron Browz - Arab Money. Although politically soo incorrect, I think considering the world economy, credit crunch and imminent recession, we all wouldn’t mind getting some of that Arab Money!

Christmas, Music, and Katt Williams!
Is it just me, or is this year’s festive season particularly dull? With nothing interesting on TV, and temperatures plummeting to below zero degrees, there really isn’t much to keep one interested this year. I really feel it’s a bad sign when the most exciting part of my day is deciding whether to eat turkey or chicken this Christmas. I must be growing up. But seriously, WHERE IS ALL THE ENTERTAINMENT?
The Christmas season is EVEN more dead for me, since the music industry goes into hibernation till January. I’ve been recording my forthcoming album non-stop for the last four months, and now all operations have come to an ANNOYING halt due to the Christmas holiday (American producers take Xmas so seriously!) So, in between writing and sleeping, I’ve been trying to keep myself entertained with new films, music, and television programmes; all of which can be enjoyed without having to leave my house! Unfortunately, none of these provided the entertainment I’ve been craving…
I then remembered the one person who can always bring a smile to my face. Katt Williams, the most underrated comedian alive! I really forgot how funny this man is. Born in Ohio, KW developed his comedic career over the last ten years; and is probably most famous for appearing on Nick Cannons MTV comedy battle show ‘Wild n out’. I stumbled across this video of Katt performing Knockout jokes on the show’s ‘Wildstyle’ rounds – two teams of comedians battle it out at the end of each show, each armed with a celebrity trying to help them win. But as you can see from the video below, Katt never fails to show them who’s boss! Pay particular attention to the battle with Kanye West - Too funny.
If you want more Katt in your life, he’s just released his new DVD ‘It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’’ for download…go to www.kattwilliams.com for more info.

Solve's Blackberry Bold Killer....for a hot minute!
Since I got the new Blackberry Bold I've neglected my iPhone. I now leave it at home and don’t even miss having it although I've just seen that Solid Snake will be available in the New Year to light up my screen entertain me. The Metal Gear Solid series is one of Konami's most successful games and will surely be a success!
The game will have 8 levels with all gameplay being controlled via the iPhone/iTouch touchscreen. Other features include being able to unlock images and wallpapers from the Metal Gear Solid Series.

Tima Watch
Just found this cool dual display concept timepiece made by Julien Bergignat. The Tima Watch features a dual display which allows you can choose between a digital or an analogue display. Whats pretty cool is that the watch can be set up to have each of the dual displays on a different time zone so you can switch easily between the two displays to check the different times. The watch uses an ePaper display for the watch face, which makes it slim and the watch face is curved inline with the watch band. All in all...nice! Lets hope it gets put into production
If only he hit him...
The soon to be former President of the United States has recently been speaking publicly at a news conference with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in Baghdad. An iraqi journalist thought it was a great opportunity for him to try and lick down hit Mr Bush with his shoe. Whilst the journalist flung his shoes across the room he yelled to the pretzel eating American in Arabic “This is a goodbye kiss from the Iraqi people, dog. This is from the widows, the orphans and those who were killed in Iraq.” The journalist's booga boots narrowly missed the President’s head as he bobbed and weaved behind the podium. The journalist was then escorted out of the news conference for questioning.

A couple new ones
N.E.R.D – Sooner Than Later
This one has a distinct old school vibe to it. I don’t think it’s one of the tracks that will go down in N.E.R.D history like Lapdance or Rockstar, but the chorus may well have you humming the melody.
Sway feat. Akon
Sway’s been on Akon’s label for a little while now, and thus this collaboration may be an obvious choice. However I didn’t see it coming. Like usual Sway’s flow sits nicely on the beat with his intricate word play, and Akon does what he does best with his distinct voice on the hook. Shout out to Sway, Your Hustling ‘Ard!

Tuesday's Track!
This week Tuesday’s track was a hard one, for me, there’s only been one track that stands out that we haven’t already posted about on the blog:
T.I – Swing Your Rags
Me and my boys have been banging this one for a hot minute and it’s become something of an anthem. So get your rags and do as the song says!

A Star Is Born
Yesterday Alexandra Burke was named the winner of X Factor 2009. In a tense show with emotions running high for all those involved, and over 12 million viewers, once again Alexandra put in a number of faultless performances, and if you haven’t seen the performance with the institution that is, “Beyonce”, this is something that you need to see (an amazing performance by any measure).
What I think makes Alexandra’s story so inspiring is that not only has she got immense talent and comes from humble beginnings, but she was cut from the show three years ago just before the live finals. Testament to her character she went away and honed her talent, then came back to win the competition.
I will go as far as to say that after the X factor tour over the coming year, this young lady will go on to be an absolutely huge success. Congratulations Alexandra, you Hustled Hard!

The Prodigy
After three years without releasing any new material, The Prodigy are back. The albums called ‘Invaders Must Die’ which is the title of the first single. Noel Clarke from the Kidulthood and Adulthood films also stars in the video.
What do we think???
What do we think???
The Festival season is coming soon...
Oasis are back,
Blur are getting back together,
Robbie Williams is on the way to re-joining Take That,
And all these bands are touring next year along with Coldplay.
With that in mind the coming festival season should be one to remember. Whether it’s Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, V Festival or O2 Wireless, I’d definitely recommend you get yourself a ticket to one of the big summer festivals in 09. These major festivals generally have a wide range of artists and genre’s performing so whatever your musical tastes, there will be something for you, the experience alone makes it worthwhile. If you do decide to go, I will be surprised if you come back without being a fan of an artist, group, or band that you previously wasn’t.
The Daily Mail’s Record Label???
This could be either the greatest stroke of genius a UK based media company has taken in years or the making of a disaster. The Daily Mail has announced that they will be launching a record company. In my opinion it really depends upon the approach the Daily Mail take. In the Daily Mail, Associated Newspapers have a great vehicle for direct marketing as can be seen when they gave away Prince’s (I think that’s what he calls himself these days) album away free with the newspaper.
Mail on Sunday editor Peter Wright, in an interview with Music Week, claims the whole project is "very exciting" and that the label hopes to launch its own acts on the world. You see the problem is that the music industry is in dire straits as C.D sales continue to tumble, while the future of the music business lies in live entertainment and sponsorship deals.
Live Nation is a perfect model of how to capitalise on the dramatic change in the ever changing music business. It’s the biggest concert promoter in the world, it employs a 360-degree model that incorporating venues, festivals, artists and merchandise as key routes to profitability. Over the last year or so they have signed long term deals with U2, Madonna and Jay-Z, each rumoured to be worth over $100million.
If The Daily Mail is able to create a similar model, this move could create one of the most forward thinking, relevant media companies the UK have to offer. However, the alternative is not worth thinking about for the UK based newspaper.

Tuesday's Tracks
This week’s Tuesday’s Tracks was a hard one. So many possibilities but only three places... There’s been a lot of tunes recently that I don’t think have received the commercial success they deserve, but hey "thats the way the cookie crumbles", Hmmmm, here goes... I think I’m going to have to go for;
Coldplay feat. Jay-Z - Lost
Once again Coldplay's musical genius is a winner, and with the hip hop legend that is Jay-Z, this track got me from the first time I heard it.
Jim Jones feat. Ron Browz & Juelz Santana – Pop Champagne
Everyone is running up on the vocoder thing, so props to T-Pain, and Teddy Riley before him, then Stevie Wonder before him, now that's what i call musical foresight. I’m feeling the little melody on the middle eight that comes in before each verse, I would have liked them to use it a little more though.
Oasis - I'm Outta Time
Oasis are back after a year in hibernation. But from what I can see their coming back hard. I’m not sold on the idea that this will be an Oasis classic like "Wonderwall" or "Don't Look Back In Anger". Nonetheless I’m feeling the tune.

Ludacris - Theater of the mind = Procrastination
Woke up this morning knowing that I had loads to do at work but for some strange reason I decided that I'll try and do my work whilst listening to Ludacris' new album...what an idiot. Its 12:20 and I haven’t done anything substantial as Chris Bridges has dropped another HUGE album! I've literally repeated each tune about 3 times and was real happy to hear one of my favourite producers 9th Wonder flip undoubtedly my favourite MF DOOM instrumental Orris Root Powder for Luda's closing track Do The Right Thang feat. Common & Spike Lee.
A definite album to add to the collection, im glad I did!
